Back to Reality

It’s been a busy but successful week getting back into the Austin routine. At least one of us has made it to the eye doctor (Annabelle), hair cut (me), spine doctor (me me me), meet-the-teacher (both girls), multiple back-to-school shopping runs (it was a complicated request list!), grocery shopping (our cupboards were bare!), massive house cleaning (spent hours secretly tossing/donating all of the old, broken, outgrown toys that the girls haven’t seen in a while/won’t miss), some car fixing (guess who) and of course lots of meetings in the past five days. How We Spent our Summer Vacation

Sometimes Marc and I get a little bummed that we haven’t managed to take our children to national parks or exotic locations, real “culture” or unusual lands. But we always go back to what we know – when you live far away from family, vacation is about keeping those bonds strong and spending the kind of quality time that makes kids realize there’s nothing more important than being with siblings, cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents.
